Chris Drummond called the conference call meeting to order at 5:20 pm. Philip Stevens and Susan Redmon had already given their regrets that they wouldn’t be able to join the call despite there best efforts as they were traveling at the time of the call.
Mr. Drummond ensured that the committee members had the materials that were emailed to them by Dennie Hill.
BUDGET APPROVAL
Mr. Drummond asked Dennie Hill to review the budget with the committee members.
Dr. Hill stated that the current Leadership Committee budget of $155,000.00 was not enough to adequately meet the requests for Leadership projects. She indicated she had added the $20,000.00 additional funding that Debra Dowds had earlier indicated would be made available to Leadership Committee to the 2010 budget proposal she sent to all committee members. Dr. Hill developed the budget considering total funding of $175,000.00.
RFP100 funding was examined first. She directed the member’s attention to the Training RFP100, 2004 thru 2009 comparable charts she created per the committee’s March request. Dr. Hill pointed out that during that five and one half year period, $709,405.00 funds had been requested and that only $317,266.62 funds had been awarded (44.7 %). The request for RFP100 funds over that time averaged almost $129,000.00 per year, yet, only $50,000.00 has been put aside each year.
Dr. Hill confirmed that the committee members agreed that the RFP 100 funds reached the most families and self advocates per dollar awarded. With this in mind, Dr. Hill added the $20,000.00 that Debra Dowds earlier indicated would be available to the RFP100 budget line. The total for the line was now $70,000.00.

Because less than $10,000.00 of $15,000.00 in the Leadership Development funds had been spent during each of the last two years, Dennie tentatively removed $5000 from that line item, and added it to the Self-Advocates and Families LEAD Funds line. More money is requested than is available for the Self-Advocates and Families LEAD Funds as well. A total of $55,000.00 was proposed for this funding.
Chris Drummond asked if there were any questions in regards to the proposed budget. The members did not have any questions.
Motion: Amber Luke moved and Michael Smith seconded to approve the proposed budget. The motion carried unanimously.
RECRUITING NEW APPLICANTS TO COUNCIL
Per Chris Drummond’s request, Dennie Hill updated the members on the brochure for recruitment of new Council members. Dr. Hill stated that the brochure was at the printer and that 15000 copies were being printed. She continued that the brochures should be available the following week.
Dr. Hill asked the Leadership Committee members if they would like for her to mail them copies of the brochure for distribution. The members discussed the idea and agreed for Dr. Hill to mail 20 copies of the brochure to them and all other Council members. Per the member’s request, Dr. Hill will also email an electronic copy of the brochure and the gubernatorial application to the members.
Chris Drummond asked the members for suggestions on how to create interest in individuals to apply to be Council members. The group also shared different ideas and experiences they had to interest possible applicants. The members agreed to continue to develop and share more ideas.
Michael Smith moved and Casey Stewart seconded to adjourn the meeting.
Chris Drummond adjourned the call at 5:40 PM.
