On Sunday, May 18, hundreds of volunteers helped plant more than a thousand trees and shrubs at Virginia Key Beach Park as part of the closing events for ‘AmeriCorps Week 2008’, held in Miami Beach. Helping with the planting were (left to right) Sheree Fugate, Emergency Management Program Coordinator, The Governor's Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service; Debra Dowds, Executive Director of the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council; Paul Martel Accessibility Program Manager, The Governor's Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service; and Joyce Lubbers, Program Director, Department of Education, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services.
