Week 5 – 2/12/26
Wednesday, February 11, 2026, marked the official halfway point of the Florida Legislature’s 2026 regular session…at least officially. The chambers appear to be far apart on several key issues, not the least of which is the state budget. As of today. (2/12), several House budget committees that had noticed the release of initial budget proposals fortoday did not release their proposals. Word is that they will now be releasing budgets on Monday. This is a highly fluid situation and may change between this writing and the actual publication of the budgets
Outlook for Week 6: Attention will now largely shift to the budget. Substantive bills that haven’t been heard in at least their first committee are running out of timefor this year. Initial budget proposals in each chamber should be released which will kick off negotiations between the two chambers. We will monitor and provide summaries of funding items of interest to our stakeholders once they are made public.
