Gratitude takes many forms and is often expressed quietly through everyday actions. As we approach this year’s Thanksgiving, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for those whose work may not always be in the spotlight but continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Whether you are a caregiver, self-advocate, council member, staff member, or part of our broader community, your dedication remains at the heart of everything we do.
To the Caregivers, thank you.
You provide daily support and create a sense of belonging for those you serve. Your work continues to be a lifeline for many, and we see the difference it makes in helping people with I/DD live with dignity and respect.
To the Self-Advocates, thank you.
Your willingness to share your experiences and speak up for your rights continues to lead the way toward progress. Your stories guide us, and your voices remain powerful.
To the Council Members, thank you.
Your insight, leadership, and steady guidance help move our mission forward and keep us focused on what matters most. We have accomplished much together, and while there is more work ahead, I am grateful to face the coming year alongside you.
And to the Staff, thank you.
Your dedication and hard work do not go unnoticed. I am proud to work with such committed individuals who care deeply about making a positive impact throughout our state.
Wishing you and your families a warm and joyful Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Valerie Breen
