Dear Board Members, Providers, and Colleagues,
I wanted to reach out personally to provide an update and to express my gratitude for the kindness, concern, and support that have been extended to me during my absence.
As many of you know, I have been away from work while dealing with a serious health matter. While I prefer to keep the details of my health private, I know that many of you have been concerned about how I am doing. I am receiving the care and support I need and am continuing to focus my energy on my health and recovery. There have been difficult days, but I remain grateful for the care I am receiving and for the people who have supported me throughout this time.
After careful consideration of my health, my recovery, and the time remaining under my current contract, I have come to accept that I will not be able to return to my role as Executive Director before my contract concludes. This is not how I envisioned ending my time with FDDC, and it is certainly not the way I would have chosen to say goodbye to an organization and community that have meant so much to me.
It has been an honor to serve as Executive Director and to work alongside people who care so deeply. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together, and I am grateful for the relationships, partnerships, and friendships I have developed along the way.
I also want you to know that although I am stepping away from my professional role, I am not closing the door on the people who have been such an important part of my life. I welcome cards, notes, emails, or other messages, although I may not always be able to respond right away. Please know that your thoughts and kindness are deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your understanding, your compassion, and, most of all, for the privilege of working and serving with you. I carry with me tremendous gratitude for our time together and for the work that will continue.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Valerie Breen
