• FDDC Annual Report
FDDC highlighted progress made during Year 4 of its 5-year state plan, showcasing training, advocacy efforts, practical tools, and projects that support individuals with I/DD throughout Florida.
• Florida State Budget for FY 2026-27
The Legislature passed a budget that includes investments in the iBudget waiver, provider rates, technology modernization, and other programs that impact services and supports for Florida’s I/DD community.
What We’re Celebrating
• Route to Self-Determination Workshop
FL SAND Fellows led learners through interactive activities focused on self-advocacy, decision-making, and building confidence.
• DD Day Advocacy
FL SAND Fellows met with Representative Fentrice Driskell to discuss advocacy, connection, and strengthening support for Floridians with developmental disabilities.
• 28th Annual Family Café
FL SAND Fellows shared leadership experiences and the importance of peer-to-peer learning during a breakout session.
• Partners in Policymaking Alumni
FDDC celebrated the accomplishments of Partners in Policymaking graduates and their continued contributions to disability advocacy.
• Summer Swimming Safety Tips
Resources and safety information were shared to help families prevent drowning and promote water safety for individuals with autism.
Opportunities
• Request for Bids: Training First Responders
FDDC released Bid #2026-BH-9600 to develop training that helps first responders better serve individuals with developmental disabilities. Proposals are due July 16, 2026.
• Access to Services through Knowledge (ASK) Web-Based Platform
FDDC released an Invitation for Proposal for the development of the ASK platform. Submissions are due July 9, 2026.
• AMPLIFY! Monthly Call
The July 6 discussion topic is “Advocating for Accessible Summer Travel,” giving self-advocates an opportunity to share experiences and resources.
• FL SAND Fellows Leadership Program
Applications are open for the 2026-2027 fellowship year. Deadline: August 15, 2026.
• Partners in Policymaking (PIP)
Applications remain open through June 30, 2026, for this nationally recognized leadership and advocacy training program.
• Florida Youth Leadership Forum (YLF)
Students ages 15–21 are invited to participate in this leadership and self-advocacy program taking place July 7–11 at Florida State University.
